Wake County CERT Sponsors

Wake County CERT, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, is part of a nationally recognized organization and the establishment of a local CERT group is important for the well being of our community. Wake County CERT, Inc. is new and we are finding that training and equipping CERT volunteers is quite expensive. We are looking for sponsors who can donate materials and/or money to this very worthwhile effort.

It is necessary to have continued funding for this valued organization to be able to meet the community's needs in the event of an emergency. In practical terms this means investing in the training of more teams and ensuring they have the supplies needed to carry out their duties.

We encourage everyone who has ever given a thought to how we would cope as a community in the event of an emergency, (Remember Hurricane Fran or some of our ice storms?) to consider taking positive action by making a donation to our own Wake County CERT.

What do we need?

We are looking for both private and corporate sponsors to help in sponsoring our training, equipment costs, and planned community outreach programs. Besides the expense of training and equipping our volunteers, CERT would like to provide additional training courses such as "Emergency Preparedness" and "CPR and First Aid". In addition, we would like to make handouts such as Community Emergency Preparedness and Response Guides available to the public. We need your help to continue these activities!

Also, we need donations of the following to supply the teams, such as:

• Tarps (8' x 8')
• Mylar Reflective Blankets (Space blankets)

• Gauss Rolls
• Medical Tape
• Hand Sanitizer
• Heavy Work Gloves
• Flares
• Light Sticks
• Ponchos
• Triage Tape
• Yellow Markers
• Black Markers
• EMT Scissors
• Utility Knives
• Water Purification Tablets
• Filter Masks
• Duct Tape
• Boundary Tape
• Triangle Bandages
• Flashlights (Maglite or equivalent; 3 or 4 D-Cell)
• Batteries (lots of em!)
• Paper for printing passouts, training manuals, etc.
• String Tags for use in victim triage
• And Lots more!

While we will turn down no donations of needed supplies, it is preferable if all items are donated with a minimum quantity of 30.
